Developer Showcase Series: Bruno Nascimento, Staff Engineer, Cheesecake Labs

Back to our Developer Showcase Series to learn what developers in the real world are doing with LF Decentralized Trust technologies. Next up is Bruno Nascimento, a staff engineer at Cheesecake Labs

Give a bit of background on what you’re working on and how you got into decentralized technologies.

I’m a Staff Engineer focused on Web3, working on real-world blockchain solutions. I contributed to the MoneyGram non-custodial wallet on Stellar and helped create the Certified Besu Professional exam.

How are you involved in the LF Decentralized Trust community?

I contributed to the community by helping create the Certified Besu Professional exam, applying my expertise to craft and review exam questions, ensuring high-quality standards for developers looking to demonstrate their skills with the open source Ethereum client, a project of LF Decentralized Trust.

Why did you choose to become involved?

I saw it as a great opportunity to give back to a community that has greatly contributed to my growth and played a key role in advancing decentralized projects.

Tell us about your experience contributing to the LF Decentralized Trust community.

From the very beginning, this journey was nothing short of incredible! I was warmly welcomed by AmyJune Hineline, the Certification Community Architect at Linux Foundation, who played a pivotal role in shaping the Certified Besu Professional exam. Her guidance through the exam creation process was invaluable, offering insights and best practices to structure my knowledge effectively. What truly stood out was the collective effort of the community—not only in tackling technical challenges but also in meticulously refining the way questions were crafted. The dedication to delivering the highest quality standard was both inspiring and motivating!

Why is contributing important?

Contribution is the driving force behind growth and innovation in the community. By actively sharing knowledge, collaborating on projects, and supporting one another, we create an environment where new ideas can flourish. Every contribution—whether through development, mentorship, or refining best practices—helps push the boundaries of what’s possible, fostering a stronger, more innovative decentralized ecosystem.

What developments are you most excited about?

Interoperability fascinates me. It’s incredible to see Hyperledger Cacti, another LF Decentralized Trust project, evolving and unlocking powerful use cases. The ability to seamlessly connect different blockchain networks opens up endless possibilities, driving innovation and real-world adoption in decentralized ecosystems.

How can others get involved?

There are always opportunities to contribute in various contexts. You just need to find what aligns with your skills or even an area you aspire to grow in. LF Decentralized Trust hosts a diverse range of projects, varying in size and complexity, offering countless ways to get involved. Whether refining existing solutions or introducing new ideas, there’s always room to make an impact and drive innovation forward.

What is the best piece of developer advice you’ve ever received?

Always. Test. Everything.

Automated and functional testing aren’t just best practices—they’re essential for building reliable and scalable systems. From unit tests ensuring code integrity to end-to-end tests validating user flows, a solid test strategy prevents regressions, enhances security, and streamlines deployments. Never skip it. Automate whenever possible.

What technology could you not live without?

Lately, Cursor AI IDE has been my passion. It’s incredible to see how powerful this tool is and how much it enhances the developer experience. From improving productivity to making coding more intuitive, it’s been a game changer for us developers.
