New LFDT European Regional Chapter Launches to Support and Grow Engagement and Contributions across the Continent

Poznań, Porto, Bruges, Budapest—Today, the European community of Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust announced the launch of its European Chapter. Our goal is to create a vibrant and inclusive community that contributes to LF Decentralized Trust projects. We aim to serve as the regional center for LF Decentralized Trust project development by offering mentorship, support, and a platform for promoting decentralized technologies, including distributed ledger technologies, tokenization, stablecoins, and digital identity.
“Increasingly, Europe is serving as a role model for implementing blockchain and digital trust infrastructure,” said Daniela Barbosa, Executive Director of LF Decentralized Trust. “With MiCA and the advancement of initiatives like the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), the region is leading in regulatory clarity, public-private collaboration, and digital identity innovation. For nearly a decade, our community has been actively driving this innovation across Europe. This new Regional Chapter builds on the engagement and contribution of our European meetups and members and amplifies our collective effort over the last nine years to support Europe’s momentum towards open source blockchain and decentralized identity technologies that prioritize interoperability, security, and trust.”
The LFDT European Chapter will serve to strengthen connections and accelerate collaboration across the many active and innovative community groups, contributors, and members in Europe and encourage even wider participation and engagement. The chapter plans to organize regular online meetings, initiate key projects, and collaborate with major blockchain and technology networks. The initial calendar includes monthly gatherings and special events throughout Q2 and Q3 of 2025. Through these activities, we will provide chapter members with opportunities to present their work, network with peers, and participate in collaborative projects.
Dominik Zyskowski, Consulting Director at Espeo Software, who is currently leading the chapter, shared: “The interest in decentralized technologies in Europe is growing. We are in a defining period, with new initiatives in stablecoins, tokenization, and digital identity occurring every week. By building a stronger ecosystem, we can increase awareness and consideration of LF Decentralized Trust projects across the continent.”
The plans for the European Chapter kicked off at LF Decentralized Trust Member Summit 2024 in San Francisco. Since then, ongoing collaboration efforts from various meetup organizers and engaged community members have laid the groundwork for the new chapter. There are now dedicated communication channels and tools, including monthly meetings on Zoom, a mailing list, Discord channel, dedicated Confluence space, to ensure interested parties can easily access resources and stay informed about upcoming initiatives.
The chapter comprises contributors, community leaders, and members from multiple leading European organizations, including private enterprises, associations, and universities, with more joining each month.
The LFDT European Chapter is the result of collaborative efforts among member organizations, individual contributors, and community participants and demonstrates our commitment to the advancement of blockchain technologies in Europe. We welcome you to join the conversation, get involved, and help shape the future of the chapter. If you're interested in starting a local Meetup in your city or have ideas for community activities, we would love to hear from you.
