Open Climate Collabathon
Hosted by the Open Collective Foundation, this year-long collaborative hackathon aimed at the development of an open source and collectively owned global climate accounting system, platform and portal kicked off this week in conjunction with Earth Day. As part of the launch activities, the Collabathon will host break out sessions this weekend, April 25-26, with the 2019 teams to connect and grow existing and new teams. Sessions will be conducted on Discord throughout the different channels. Go here to get involved.

Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) Virtual Forum: Soramitsu on Creating a Blockchain-Based Payment System
Join Makoto Takemiya, Co-Founder & CEO Soramitsu, for a presentation on Soramitsu’s Project Bakong, a collaboration with the central bank of Cambodia to create a blockchain-based integrated payment system that incorporates digital identity, payments, and digital assets for the general populous. The innovative payment system is the first use of a blockchain system by a central bank for retail payments and is enabling Cambodia’s largely unbanked population to gain access to the broader financial system.

Internet Identity Workshop XXX (#30)
This virtual three-day workshop is billed as the time and place to discuss, share your knowledge, work on and learn about anything and everything related to Internet Identity. IIW brings together the largest concentration on the planet of talent dedicated to designing and building identity systems that empower individuals. IIW has been finding, probing and solving identity issues twice every year since 2005 and moves topics, code, and projects downfield with each event.

Hyperledger Summer Mentorship application deadline extended
If you are interesting in applying for one of the 18 paid mentorship opportunities in this year’s Hyperledger Summer Mentorship program, you have couple of extra days to make the deadline. The program is open to students anywhere in the world, and mentees can work wherever they are. The new application deadline is April 27.
