Preparing for the Besu Certified Professional Exam: Tips, Resources, and a Discount Code

The Linux Foundation recently launched the Besu Certified Professional exam to give people a way to demonstrate their expertise with the open source Ethereum client, an LF Decentralized Trust project. With demand for IT pros with decentralized technology skills rising exponentially in finance, healthcare, supply chain management, energy, media, government, and more, we’ve created this certification so individuals and organizations can show they have the professional knowledge needed to both build and manage solutions on a Besu network.

How should you think about preparing for the exam?

Over the last few years, we’ve run a number of in-depth technical workshops related to Besu, and these recordings are good resources to review. In each, developers explain how to use Besu to accomplish a variety of different tasks.

The Besu community has good documentation so that is another resource. In particular, we recommend checking out the public network how to guides, private network how to guides, public network tutorials and the private network tutorials. And if you see anything in the documentation that could be added or improved, please feel free to take a look at how to contribute to the Besu docs.

If you have any questions while preparing for the exam, the Besu channels on the LF Decentralized Trust Discord are also an excellent place to connect with people in the community who may be able to help you. We’ve also seen community members coming together into learning groups to study for the exam with others, so feel free to connect with other people and see if they’d like to prepare with you.

Linux Foundation Education programs are critical to building the global open source workforce, having trained over 3 million professionals worldwide in essential open source technologies like the Linux Kernel and Kubernetes. Under the tutelage of the LF Education team, a certification like the Besu professional cert is created and vetted with the community that is closest to the code. We would like to thank all of the community members and organizations that contributed to the creation of the certification. George Ţebrean, Nischal Sharma, and Christian Felde from Web3 Labs were the lead contributors. Sumi Abraham,  Ananthan, and Vishva Prasad from Kerala Blockchain Academy; Matthew Whitehead from Kaleido; Alejandro Dovale from io.builders; Yash Bhavsar from Launchnodes; Samuel Venzi and Marcos Sarres from GoLedger; Bruno Nascimento from Cheesecake Labs; Jatin Sharma from Zeeve; Suzana Pereira de Oliveira from CPQD, Javier Garcia from IntellectEU; and Mahendran Manickam from Infosys also contributed.

We are grateful for all their contributions to the cert. We’ll be sending the new limited edition Besu shirt designed by community member Cahyo Arissabarno, based in Indonesia, to everyone who contributed to creating the exam. We look forward to seeing those selfies with #BesuCertContributor!

If you are a Besu fan, you can also show your support. Order your own limited-edition Besu shirt, from the LF Decentralized Trust store. Once you get certified - show us by tagging #BesuCertPro

To get you fast tracked on taking the exam, we’ve set up the 30% off coupon code BCPW325 that can be used until April 30 to get a discount on the exam. Even if you’re not prepared to take the exam, you can still purchase it now before the code expires and sign up when you are ready.
